Call Me app Video - Design Dialogues

  • This is my finished Project for Design Dialogues.
  •  It is easy to use and it is simple.
  • People can also send the user a message back saying that they can't contact them at the stated time.
  • The app is a Crisis Solver.

Design Dialogues- Call Me App!!

Overview
- Solves the problem of forgetting to contact someone.

  • System that sends reminders alerts.
  • Easy to use
  • Simple
  • Reminds you to send messages to reply/call missed calls.
  • Reminds contacts that they have to get to the recipient by either phone or text. "Reminder to contact 'Darren' by 'Phone' at '6:00PM'".
  • An alarm vibration would remind you and it would pop-up on your screen.
  • People can send others reminders through the app as well.  Making sure that they know to ring/text you.
  • I will  create a short film showing how the app would work.
  • I will stick this film on YouTube, Vimeo and on this blog.
  • I will also stick a link to it on twitter, so others can see it.

Project Two- Design and Making

I have chosen to make a Cross Design for this project. Below is a computerised drawing of the Cross Design.

The reason I chose this design was that it met the design criteria and it was beautiful and interesting.

Graphic Design Project- Website design

This is a group project design, in the project we have to choose an individual task. For my indivual task I have chosen to make a slideshow showing pictures of the site and facilities. I will also do a pisplay of pictures for the projects.

Here is information I got from my recent tour of the EpiCentre facilities:

EpiCentre
Epicentre has smart card access to rooms in the building.
Epicentre is the MS building in the Magee Campus.
The Epicentre uses the newest technology to create top quality projects.
Level 0
PCB Room
The PCB room is where the electronic circuit boards are made. They design the board by using a piece of software on the computer. Then the computer generates the circuit design on to an actual circuit board using the machine.
Level 1
ISCR Boardroom
The boardroom has the newest technology built into the board room. It has video conferencing; it has a touchscreen smart board. The boardroom is available for clients of the company to use if needed.

Level 2
ISCA Laboratory A
This is where they create the software for the projects. They also do the write ups for the projects in this area.
Cognitive Robotic Laboratory
This is where they create robots and test them. They have created new establishing tests on Robotics. They have created a wheel chair that connects to your brain; this is used for disabled people that can’t speak. This wheelchair moves by the brain sending it signals. They have also created other exciting robotic technology, e.g. Hand Robot, balance robot.
ISCRA Laboratory B
This laboratory is broken into three different sections; Serious Games and Virtual World Laboratory, Instrumentation laboratory and Brain Computer Interfacing laboratory.
Serious Games and Virtual World Laboratory
In this section they create projects for students to learn of second life. They use Second life as an educational tool for the students of University of Ulster, Magee.
They also use the virtual world for training purposes. They have recently developed a design for the City of Derry Airport, which helps employees identify where people need assistance. It would also show the staff of ways that you could help them and assist them in an appropriate way.
Their latest project is which a company called Incore; the project is to create all the memorials in Northern Ireland virtually, using Second Life. They have also integrated the real world with the virtual world by using Google Maps. This lets you see the memorials in Normal view and in 3D view with the information allowing people to interact and design memorials virtually.
This department is currently focused on healthcare and culture.
Brain Computer Interfacing Laboratory
This department is focused on using the brain to interact and control a computer. This is exciting and new research using the newest technology.
North West Regional College, Epicentre
In this area of EpiCentre they let students and clients interact with their technology. They show the students how there equipment works and also how to make projects. In this building they would use CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing).
A company that they have worked with is Phooka, which are Ireland’s first higher level computer game developers. Epicentre taught phooka 3D modelling and prototyping in solid works. Phooka’s modellers were able to adopt their knowledge and new techniques to their 3D work.

Projects
Asthma Device
This is a device that can tell the user if they are inhaling properly and what amount to take. It is also helpful to doctors as it can tell them if the user is using the inhaler properly and regularly.
RFID
This is designed for Blue badge Holders. Blue badge holders would have a card, which would let them access disability toilets; this would be ideally used in shopping centres and airports. They would have a system in their company that would access the card and add the user of the card to their companies’ database. There would be a card reader outside all the facilities; to access the facilities you need a valid card. It uses a magnet to lock the door, once you swipe the card it will open. If the toilet is engaged it will show a red light to signal to the person that the toilet is occupied. If the toilet is free it will show a green light and the door would unlock and open. The card has to be registered in the system to work. RFID has been designed for a company called Just Mobility. EpiCentre had create the software and electronics for this project.
